Kruja Albania

Kruje, also known as Kruja in English, is a city located in Albania, just north of Tirana. Kruje served as the unofficial capital of Skanderbeg. Its elevated location allowed for communication with other castles across the country through the use of light or fire signals. Krujë is a small city located approximately 31 km (20 miles) north of the capital city, Tirana, and is a place steeped in history. The region has been inhabited since the 3rd century B.C. and was home to the namesake Alban tribe as well as Gjergj Skanderbeg, the national hero of Albania. Kruja offers a plethora of attractions for tourists, including an ancient castle nestled in rugged rocks, two museums, breathtaking views, a nearby national park, sacred temples, natural springs, the ancient city ruins of Albanopolis, and the old bazaar.
